Cleveland Botanical Gardens 1 – Before and After

As part of the Inspiration Garden section of the Cleveland Botanic Garden, a kitchen garden was created to provide an example of organic gardening ideas for visitors to take home. An outdoor cooking area contains a pizza oven, grill, sink and refrigerator for outdoor cooking demonstrations and to provide kitchen facilities for outdoor events. The garden was funded through a grant from Fairmount Minerals and components of the garden were required to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. Examples contained within the garden are: permeable paving areas reducing storm water runoff, concrete countertops containing recycled glass, a pizza oven that is removable and can be transported to other areas of the garden, materials purchased locally in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and LED lighting to save on energy costs.
